Diocese Calls for Prayers for Zimbabwe at Pentecost
Apr 30, 2008
Statement by the Bishop and Chapter of the Anglican Diocese of False Bay
At a meeting of the Bishop and Chapter of the Diocese of False Bay on Thursday, 24 April 2008, following some serious concerns raised by the Clergy and People of the Archdeaconry of Blue Downs in respect of the current crisis in Zimbabwe, it was resolved to release a statement to the Press.
We fully support and endorse these statements — the sentiments expressed in our national newspapers on 22 April by the Archbishop of Cape Town, the Most Revd. Thabo Makgoba, in which he adds his voice of concern about the crisis following the recent Elections in Zimbabwe, as well as the attached statement by the Archdeaconry of Blue Downs.
Furthermore the Bishop and Chapter call on all Anglicans and people of conscience within the Diocese of False Bay to pray earnestly for the resolving of the conflicts in Zimbabwe and for us to set aside Pentecost Sunday (11 May) as a special Day of Prayer for Zimbabwe.
